Gaia, the spirit of the planet, assembles five teenagers from around the world to become the Planeteers; an opposing force to fight back against pollution and educate others in the need to be environmentally responsible. Each Planeteer is given a magic ring that each has an elemental power of earth, wind, water, fire and heart. When a threat is too large for them to face alone, they can combine and amplify their elements to summon the superhero Captain Planet, who has the power to stop catastrophic environmental disasters. Together, they work to defend Earth from pollution caused by criminals and villains.
